Thanks for visiting the Stateline Volksfolks website! To give you a little background on the Stateline Volksfolks VW club, we have been around since 1987. We welcome fans of both air and water-cooled VWs (ownership isn't necessary - just the love of VWs is enough for us!). The Volksfolks are a local chapter of the oldest national VW club in the US, the Volkswagen Club of America. When you join us, you automatically become a member of both clubs (if you already belong to the VWCA we can have your existing membership associated with the Volksfolks to simplify dues). The Stateline Volksfolks stay active throughout the year. Cruises, VW shows, Fix-Your-VW-Days, potlucks, toy shows, and VW camping events are just some of the things we do. One or more events are planned each month, and we often go to events of other VW clubs in the area (Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Indiana). We're always open to suggestions, so if you have any ideas, let us know! Every-other month, members receive our newsletter, the "Stateline Dateline." In each issue you'll find news about upcoming events, VW cartoons, stories, news and free classifieds. If you'd like to send me an e-mail with your postal address, I can add you to the roster to receive our next issue as a sample. Members also receive the "Autoist" - a bimonthly magazine published by the VW Club of America. It covers the national club's activities and includes the latest VW news, stories, cartoons, free classifieds and anything else members submit. One of the perks of being a member of the VWCA is the "Friends of the Club." In the magazine's centerfold, you'll see a list of VW dealers that offer discounts on parts, accessories, and (in some cases) labor. It's very easy to save more than you'll spend to be a club member with this discount. Dues for the first year are $30. Renewals each year are $25. The VWCA sends new members a special info packet which is covered by the extra $5. Lastly, the club has a web site that's still growing.
